The story of Progkids: How are we different from other schools?

Dad and son are programming

In this article, we'll talk about the history of the Progkids programming school, which Sergey Zhuchkov was inspired to create by his son.

How did it all start?

One day, Sergey's son came home with glowing eyes and started talking about Minecraft, which he learned about on the playground. Back then, he didn't have a device to play on — he just fantasized and memorized possible gaming actions.
By the time the child got the tablet, he had already become a real Minecraft specialist, and, of course, he had been playing with passion for some time.
However, at some point he got bored with it, and he switched to watching videos about others playing.
Sergey, on the other hand, wanted his son to continue developing, knowing that Minecraft provides more than ample opportunities for this.

A little bit about the game

Minecraft is a unique game and a real find for parents who want their child to play profitably. The Minecraft virtual world is designed in such a way that you can change and modify it, create new objects and game modes in it, and invent and implement your own extensions. The child will learn all this playfully in programming classes at Progkids School.
In addition, all Minecraft mechanics are written in accordance with the real laws of physics, which allows the child to deepen their knowledge in various fields of science while playing. Children learn to allocate accumulated resources, collaborate with others, develop creative abilities, set goals and implement them within the virtual world of play.

What happened next?

Sergey began to think about how to regain his son's interest, as well as make the game process even more useful and informative. He started developing a platform that would allow him to modify and supplement the game's features using code.
Sergey modified the resulting product for some time, tested it and looked for ways to make it as easy as possible for the child to understand.
And then I realized that the platform turned out to be unique, and I wanted to share a useful product with others.
This is how the Progkids School was born, with which about 150 experienced programming teachers currently collaborate.

How does Progkids differ from other online programming schools?

The main difference between our school is its unique internal educational platform, which currently has no analogues among online coding courses for children.
Its peculiarity lies in its maximum ease of use. All you need to do before starting training is to register quickly. After that, the child can immediately learn the coding base and play. In general, it takes less than 20 minutes to prepare for the first lesson. In addition, if you have any technical issues, our teachers are always available to help you solve them. If for any reason a teacher is not available, there is also a technical support service that works around the clock and quickly fixes all technical problems.

At what age can a child start studying at Progkids?

We usually accept students from the age of 7, but sometimes preschoolers come to us. On our blog, you can also read the story of Kian, who started programming at age 4.
The youngest students start with block programming in Scratch or Snap. Lessons are conducted in a playful format: the child moves colored blocks and assembles a “constructor” from lines of code. Thus, children are able to quickly implement simple projects: animations, music videos, games, etc.

What guarantees does Progkids Online School offer?

First, to understand whether remote learning is suitable for your child, you can visit the first one trial lesson absolutely free. In addition, if, after paying for tuition and attending one to three classes, you are forced to cancel the course for any reason, we will give you a full refund. If you have completed more than three classes (for example, 4 or 5), we will refund your money after deducting the cost of the lessons you have taken.
This way, you are guaranteed to be able to get your money back if for any reason you decide that the course is not right for you.

Device compatibility

One of the challenges that students studying online face is using devices from different manufacturers that may not support the course software. Progkids Online School has thought about this point — we've created several course options in case any of them are incompatible with your device.

An individual approach to training

There are currently no group classes at our school. All classes are one-on-one with a teacher, which provides a special personalized approach to each student. Our experienced teachers are sure to adapt to the child's pace, making the learning process flexible and fun.

A community of like-minded people

One of the drawbacks of the remote learning format is the physical absence of classmates.
Progkids Online School makes sure that children don't lose motivation and interest in learning, so we've created a space on Discord where students and teachers can communicate, ask each other questions, and most importantly, share their achievements, brag about ready-made projects and play Minecraft together.

Reward system

In addition, to increase children's motivation and interest in progress, Progkids periodically holds competitions for our students' works and projects. Winners receive up to three lessons as a gift.

If you want to be part of our online coding school, sign up for your child for free trial lesson at Progkids!
