How much should a child learn in early childhood? Good question! In our rapidly developing technological society, children can easily install their favorite apps on their smartphones, but they don't know how to tie their shoelaces! The thing is that sometimes parents take too much care of children, not allowing them to do things on their own. But it's worth it!

In this article, we'll talk about what it is desirable to teach a child by the age of 10!

#1 Cook simple meals

First of all, a ten-year-old should learn how to provide himself with food. You never know what could happen! Cooking skills are fundamental and are at the top of our list.

Show your child how to cut a banana with a plastic knife, and then fill it with yoghurt a healthy snack is ready! What's even easier is to use cornflakes and milk.

Older children can be taught how to make sandwiches with butter and cheese.

By the age of ten, the child should be allowed to use the stove under the supervision of an adult.

#2 Make smart purchases

When shopping together, tell your child what influences your choices. Explain how you can compare prices, choose a discounted item, and use a discount card. Let your child pay by credit card himself, pay in cash and count change.

Let your child get used to “wise” shopping from childhood!

#3 Wash clothes

A child can learn to use a washing machine from the age of 6. Show me how to load laundry, measure and pour laundry into a special compartment, select a program and start the machine.

It's very easy to turn laundry into a game! For example, ask your child to become the new Clean Superhero who fights against scoundrels living in a basket of dirty laundry =)

#4 Take care of plants

It is not so difficult to teach a child responsibility: start a plant in the house. If you already have flowers, buy a new one It would be better if the child chooses a “green pet” to their liking. Tell us how often you need to water the plant, teach you how to wipe the leaves and use a spray gun. We are sure that caring for a green baby will help your child become more independent, as well as understand the importance of respecting nature.

#5 Write letters

Writing “live” letters is a rare but nevertheless useful activity. Writing by hand involves different parts of the brain and helps develop speech skills.

Open the world of letters to your child: exchange notes, send paper cards to grandparents. Undoubtedly, this hobby will leave pleasant memories in the child's soul and bring many benefits.

#6 Treat wounds

Teach your child to stay calm at the sight of blood and show him how to proceed if he or one of his friends gets hurt.

#7 Use the map

Even if your child is still a toddler, the ability to use the card will definitely come in handy. You can practice using a paper map or show him the app on your phone. The sooner a child learns how to navigate the city, the better.

#8 Wrap gifts

Teach your child the magic of “creating” beautiful gifts for loved ones. This will not only usefully take his time, but will also cultivate his taste and aesthetic vision, as well as make him attentive and caring to his family and friends.

#9 Be safe online

Today's children spend more time online than ever. However, this is not the safest environment for a child: there is always a risk of running into inappropriate content, “catching” viruses, or becoming a victim of fraud or cyberbullying.

How to protect a child?

First, use parental control to avoid the risk of online content affecting your child. Set up your child's profiles so that sites where they watch cartoons or videos select only child-friendly content for them.

Second, teach your child the importance of keeping passwords and personal information private. Change passwords periodically to prevent data leaks.

Thirdly, explain to your child that he should never share his last name, address, phone number, school number, etc.

Fourth, tell your children that they should be extremely careful when posting information and photos on social media. Explain that even personal correspondence is not always secure, as profiles are often hacked by scammers.

These are just the most basic guidelines for safe online behavior. We'll come back to this topic and discuss it in more detail in other articles.

#10 Programming

The ability to program in the modern world means a lot. Even if your child is not going to dedicate his life to the IT industry, coding skills will help him develop logical thinking, teach him how to make decisions and delegate tasks.
