It seems that there is not a single child left in the world who is not familiar with this man's main creation. Almost everyone who has ever played the legendary Minecraft game knows that Notch created it. This pseudonym belongs to Markus Persson, a Swedish programmer and video game designer.

His story is an inspiring example of how a passion for programming and creativity can lead to global recognition. In this article, we'll talk about Notch's path to success.

Early years

On June 1, 1979, an ordinary baby was born in Stockholm and was destined to create a game loved by the whole world! Since childhood, little Markus has been interested in computers and programming. At the age of seven, his parents gave their son a Commodore 128, where he began learning the basics of coding. Markus quickly learned the BASIC programming language and started creating his first games.

Career start

Marcus was an intelligent and bright boy, but he didn't graduate from high school. However, his visionary mother convinced him to take a programming course, and this was an important moment in his life. Persson later worked as a programmer for various companies, developing software for websites and video games. In 2004, he joined King.com, where he worked on browser games, such as creating an online game Wurm Online. He also learned Java and started teaching it to the company's employees. This is how Markus found a new friend named Jacob Porser, who later became his main artistic ally.

The birth of Minecraft

In 2009, Markus decided to start his own project and started developing an indie game. Persson wanted to create a virtual world where players could explore space, build buildings, and survive battles with different creatures. This is how the legendary and unique Minecraft game was born.

The first version was released on a forum in May 2009. The game quickly attracted the attention of the gaming community due to its unique concept and creative freedom. Players could build any structure out of blocks in the 3D world, which made Minecraft incredibly popular.

Minecraft is conquering the world!

The game has become a cult following among players of all ages and has won numerous awards for its innovative gameplay. In 2010, Markus founded Mojang to further develop the project.

Minecraft has continued to develop, receiving regular updates and new features. In 2011, the game came out of beta testing and was officially received by the widest audience.

Mojang for sale

In September 2014, Microsoft acquired Mojang along with the rights to Minecraft for $2.5 billion. After selling the company, Markus decided to leave Mojang and start new projects. Jens Bergensten became the main developer of the game.

But that's a whole different story...

Marcus's journey proves that a passion for programming and creativity can lead to a hit!
