Minecraft is one of the most popular games in the world, and people often want to change its gameplay with modifications. Mods or “mods” are software that can add new features, blocks, items, mobs, and other game elements. In this article, we'll look at some of the best Minecraft mods and the steps to install them.
The first mod in line is Not Enough Items or Just Enough Items. This is a modification that shows recipes for crafting items and blocks, as well as recipes in which these items and blocks participate. It has flexible integration with other modifications. The mod allows you to get crafting recipes not only for workbenches and ovens, but also for machines from various modifications, such as IC2 crushers. When cheating mode is on, it gives items to inventory. To get a recipe for crafting an item, you need to hover over it and press the R button. To find out crafting recipes that use a resource, hover over it and press the U button.
This is what inventory looks like with JEI enabled:
The next mod is Xaero's Minimap. It adds a mini-map to the game with built-in radar for mobs, players, discarded items, and caves. It has a large number of settings.
This is what the mini-map looks like in standard mode:
The mod adds the ability to put waypoints (tags) on the ground to make it easier to navigate. In single player mode, you can teleport to these locations.
Another useful mod is Backpacks. He adds new items to the game — backpacks. They can be used to expand your inventory. This can be especially useful for long trips to the mine, felling wood or farming any other items.
Using dyes, you can change the color of the backpack. All colors:
The next modification is not exactly about mods, but it changes the perception of gameplay no less. This is about shaders. An example of the difference between standard textures and playing with Capttatsu's BSL Shaders enabled:
But be careful when installing — shaders require a lot of video memory resources and should be installed on computers with powerful video cards and processors.
The next mod that makes the game easier is Tree Capitator. Its essence is simple: in order to cut down the entire tree, you only need to break the lower block of the tree, the mod will do the rest for you.
And the last mod in this collection is Biomes O' Plenty. It adds over 80 new biomes to the game, such as jungles, mountains, deserts, and more. Each biome has its own unique features, plants and mobs. This mod is great for those who want to expand the possibilities of the Minecraft world around them. In order for the mod to work, after installation, when creating a new world, go to the world settings and select the “Biomes O' Plenty” world type.
Installing mods
Modifications for minecraft are launched using special libraries. Most often, it is enough to install one of them once and it will be enough to install mods for one version of minecraft. This can be done when choosing the right version in TLauncher.
In addition to the regular version 1.12.2, Forge, OptiFine, ForgeOptifine, and BetterFoamFix are available. A Fabric modification is available for newer versions.
Let's see what each of these modifications is for
Forge is a mod loader that allows you to install and run other Minecraft mods. It ensures the stable operation of many mods and features, such as creating new blocks, items, worlds, etc.
OptiFine is a mod that improves Minecraft performance by allowing you to customize graphics and optimize settings to improve FPS. This is especially useful for players who are having trouble with the game's frame rate.
ForgeOptiFine is a mod combination that combines Forge and OptiFine functionality. This means that players can customize graphics and improve performance with OptiFine while simultaneously using multiple mods via Forge.
Fabric is a lightweight mod loader that allows you to install mods for Minecraft while maintaining high performance and compatibility. Fabric also allows you to create mods that are more complex than is possible with Forge.
Overall, these mods are designed to improve the Minecraft experience. They allow players to customize graphics, optimize performance, and use a variety of additional features, making the game even more interesting and fun.
To successfully install most mods, just move them to the mods folder (it is created by itself in the Minecraft root directory when installing the Forge version).
To install shaders, you need to transfer the downloaded file to the shaderpacks folder (it is created by itself in the Minecraft root directory when installing the OptiFine version).
